Walking the Kids

There’s nothing I love more than when the kids are specks in the distance. I mean this in the nicest possible way – and of course, only in a safe environment, with no strangers, roads or roaming bulls around. Usually, I’m lumbering along in the rear with my baby, yelling at them not to go too far ahead, but at the weekends, I let my husband hang back to have some toddler time so I can walk the kids properly. As soon as they saw this hill on the glorious Dunstable Downs, they were off, racing down it like mountain goats, with me stumbling behind them, trying to refrain from crying “Ooh, me knees!” They passed me coming back up, giggling with exhilaration, their eyes gleaming. I took this quick snap (managing somehow to make them both look like they’re flying) and chased after them – my beautiful boys, running wild.
