The heatwave’s here – Uggs be gone! It’s time to free the feet. Nothing says summer’s coming like kicking the boot habit and slipping on a pair of sandals. How will you style yours this year?
I love Spring. As the daffodils burst into flower and the first bees start buzzing in the air, my fashion taste buds start to tingle. Having spent the last five months encased in boots, skinny jeans and parka, it’s such a joy to leave the coat behind in favour of a knit. Most of all, I look forward to liberating my toes.
As every woman knows, the foundation of any outfit is the shoes. My much-beloved LK Bennett thong sandals finally died a death at the end of last summer, so I am firmly in the market for some new open-toe shoes. There are some beautiful heeled sandals around, but they’re all a bit high for the school run. I do like a bit of height though, as long as the heel’s not too spindly. Falling flat on my face in the playground while chasing down my toddler is not a great look.
Cue the espadrille wedge. Look at these babies from Cara.
They have everything I want in a shoe this season: a heel to give me a bit of a lift, but with the wedge to keep it comfortable. The most gorgeous soft suede. An ankle strap for stability so I don’t stack it in Aldi. And the perfect neutral shade to go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe (though they also come in style classics navy and black, so I was torn which to choose).
Best of all, when I tried these beauties on, I almost sighed with delight. The insoles are specially designed for comfort, and boy do they work! With the whole shoe being incredibly light, it’s like walking on air.
What about you? Are you in your summer footwear yet?

These beauties will also be perfect for the June wedding I’m going to!
Disclosure: I was kindly sent the ‘Susan’ espadrille wedges by Cara for review; all words, images and opinions my own.
They are gorgeous Jess! I love them! You look so beautiful in everything too – I especially love your cullottes, and have long admired your gorgeous yellow dress (I remember you wore it at BML and I coveted it! ☺)xx

They’re lovely, Jess. I agree, it’s fab to be able to ditch the boots and get the sandals out. Those espadrilles really will go with everything, and are a sensible height for everyday. Fab photos, you look great in all the outfits and I especially like the blue dress xx #fashionfriday
